Briquette Factory LOUISE Domsdorf
LOUISE is the oldest briquette factory in Europe. The factory has a 110 years history of nonstop production: turning raw brown coal into coal briquettes. The production had run since 1882 till in 1992 the factory had to be closed because of weakening demand. In the same year LOUISE entered the monument index of state Brandenburg. You can visit the factory building from 1882 and see how they made briquettes in former times. Furthermore you can go for a ride on the old mine railway. A permanent exhibition presents the everyday life and working conditions of the laborers. Meanwhile the Museum Factory organizes concert evenings and art exhibitions as well.
