Museum of Ceramic and Furnace
In the economic heydey of 1905, Velten had 36 factories. They produced one hundred thousands of masonry stoves for the nearby capital Berlin – the famous white Berlin stoves. Today only the furnace factory Schmidt, Lehmann Velten is leftover. On its premises you find the Museum of Ceramic and Furnace. See furnaces and stoves from all over the world and four different centuries. The museum shows different types of stoves, tiles and oven ornaments, pattern books, paintings and original prints as well as pottery of famous artists like Hedwig Bollhagen. Learn about the traditional handcraft and take a look at modern ceramic products at the furnace factory. Touch and try unformed clay in the museum workshop and be inspired by visiting the pottery shop and the porcelain studio.
