Brickyard Park
In 1887 when the railway bridge was built near Zehdenick the builders found a huge amount of clay. The region became the largest brickyard district of Europe. The rising metropolis Berlin demanded new building materials all the time. This kept the place running even for the period of the GDR till 1991 when the brickyard closed. Today the former brickyard is museum and park to show the history of clay and its change into brick. In the two ring kilns old brick makers talk about their craft in an interactive exhibition. Explore the park with the brickyard railroad and see lots of technical monuments. Try to make your own brick or ride the railroad bicycle. Kids can play and have fun as well. The park has got its own adventure playground.
