Industrial Heritage Baruther Glashütte

Industrial Heritage Baruther Glashütte

The industrial heritage Baruther Glashütte shows the artistic handcraft of glass. The Baruth glassworks were founded in 1716. Glassblowers produced lampshades and bottles till 1980. They worked and lived in the village Baruth. Today, the ensemble of factory buildings and workers dwellings is an impressive technical monument. Take a look at the history of the location, the industrial culture and glass design. Try to make your own glass bowl. The former cutting shop shows the history of the thermos bottle. The inventor of the vacuum flask, Reinhold Burger, was born in Glashütte and contributed to technological progress in many ways. Lots of manufactories and little shops referring to glass, art and handcraft invite you to feel inspired or to find some souvenirs.
